In my home placement, I am grateful that I have been able to teach so much. It has allowed me to grow as a teacher and a person. A few weeks into the second half term, one of the teachers went off sick, leaving the department with just one teacher. The school provided cover teachers to be present and to teach the lessons but I stepped up and said that I would lead as many lessons as I could until the teacher returned. I did this because I had been given the confidence by the department and knew the lessons that I could teach. I ended up teaching multiple classes their modules and was able to successfully carry out their assessments. During this time I was also able to collaborate with the supply teachers and was also a support teacher in the lessons where I was able to help around the classroom.
